Letter Home - September 2017
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to another school year!
My name is Ms. Reid and I will be teaching your child this year in class 4-4. I am looking forward to a great year at Bruce Trail Public School.
Many parents and students would like to know the school supplies they should be purchasing for school. The school will provide each student the materials they need for class. If you wish, you can provide the following:
- Pencil Case
- Pencil Sharpener
- Small scissors
- Pencil Crayons
- Small ruler
Earbuds are also important to have - please send labelled with your child's name. These will be kept in the classroom for students to use with the classroom chromebooks. Please note that expensive pairs are not necessary and that earbuds are usually available from Dollarama.
There are a number of school forms to complete as well as an information sheet for myself. I have provided a paper copy of our schedule for you to keep at home. Please note that we have library every two weeks on Tuesday mornings - I will let you know when we have our first library period.
I use several different tools to communicate between home and school, including the msreid.ca website you are on. Please take a look and bookmark this site, as it includes many student resources, our classroom twitter feed, a bit of information about myself, and a homework section which will be updated nightly.
Remind is an extremely helpful tool I use which allows me to send text messages or emails to parents with reminders. I don't use Remind daily, only on an as needed basis, but I find it to be tremendously useful to have all parents receiving the same information. The instructions and a link are available under the Parent Resources section. Please sign up.
Agendas help students to record homework and assignment timelines so they are able to manage their time and not become overwhelmed. This year, the school will be providing agendas, which will arrive at the end of September. For September, I am providing a paper copy which will be kept in a duotang. We will write in our agendas daily - please check your child's agenda and initial every day. The agenda is also a useful tool for school and home communication. It is a perfect place for you to write any notes that you have for me. It also gives students a safe place to put any forms or newsletters to ensure that they get home.
Finally, if you wish to contact me I am available via telephone at (905) 864-1300 or through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org - do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
I am looking forward to a great year!
